How It Works

Residential Service

We provide two bins. One for Plastic, Glass, & Cans. The other for small cardboard and paper. Please put large flattened cardboard under a bin. We collect every other week on the same day as your trash pickup. Place bins close to your trash so we can find them.

Where should I place my bins?

Bins should be placed in the same area as your City Garbage Can. Please set them at least 3 feet away so the City can collect your trash.

Do you pick up other trash or scrap material?

No, not at this time. We are looking to expand service soon for large recycling items (washers/dryers, scrap metal, etc) Please check City of Livingston Solid Waste Dept. for current Transfer Station Rates.

I forgot to set my bins out, now what?

Please make sure your bins are out by 6:00 am pickup day. If you can make it until your next scheduled pickup please do so. If not, there is a small fee for extra or non scheduled pickups. Please contact us and we will work with you.

WHAT ABOUT THE WIND!

Please place large flattened cardboard under your bin. They sit fairly low to the ground and should stay put. If not, place a heavy item (rock, log) on top, we will leave them with your bins for future use.

I live outside of town, can I get service?

We are able to serve City of Livingston Residents and Businesses. If you are unsure of your location please see the City of Livingston website or contact us and we will help to identify if your home or business qualifies.

I have a lot of recycling!

For residential clients that find their bins are too small, please contact us and we will work with you to upgrade your service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I provide my own bins?

I live in an apartment, can I use your service?

My bins were stolen or lost!

No, in order to serve everyone fairly and efficiently it helps us to identify and have all the same size bins when collecting your recycling.

Yes, as an individual you can subscribe and place your recycling next to your trash. If you are a building owner or facilities manager and want to look into service for a whole building, please contact us directly.

Your Start Up Fee helps to cover damages caused by accidents and regular wear to the bins we provide. We will replace bins at no cost assuming that damage caused was not intentional.

WHAT IS RECYCLABLE?

Different regions around the U.S. have varying ability to recycle materials based on cost and a market for those raw materials. The list below is what we are able to currently recycle in our area.

Plastics

Number 1 and 2 BOTTLE SHAPE ONLY!

Plastic water bottles, pop, shampoo, laundry soap, dish soap, cleaning products.

- NO CLAM SHELL- (Berries, Salad, etc,)

Be careful, many dairy products like yogurt and cottage cheese are packaged in Number 5. We are not able to recycle these and they contaminate the plastics that can be. Please throw them in your trash and look for products in the store that are packaged in 1 & 2.

Metals

Aluminum and Steel cans. Pop, sparkling water, beer, soup, vegetable cans, etc.

Recycling aluminum cans saves up to 95% the energy use by not having to extract raw ore!

Glass

Any Glass bottle will do! Beer, Wine, Pickles, etc.

Glass has to be reheated and melted down, that makes the energy savings 10-15% versus new products. It currently gets sent to Utah and turned into fiberglass insulation.

Carboard/Paper

FLATTENED Cardboard Boxes, brown paper bags/packaging, paper egg cartons. No Pizza boxes or any with food contamination or wax coatings (Tetra Pack, 1/2 gallon milk)

We take paper, Newspaper, Junk Mail, Magazines, Flyers

Recycling Cardboard saves up to 75% the energy use of creating new cardboard products!
